Easy ways to Ditch and Switch to Non-toxic Cleaning Products

ditch and switch non-toxin toxin free cleaners

While spring cleaning, we may find that we don’t need to use all those harsh chemical cleaners to keep our homes clean. Not only that, but so many of the ingredients in those commercial cleaners are known endocrine disruptors (think hormones/metabolism), carcinogens (think cancer) and air pollutants (allergies and asthma).

You may be thinking “great, but where do I start?” That is what this post is for. We want to put all of our natural home cleaning products and recommendations in one post for you. If budget is an issue, start with one item and go from there. The good thing is that you can make almost any cleaner you want with just a few basic kitchen ingredients.

Let’s start with our top DIY cleaning products that we have on the blog already. Here is a general list of basic ingredients to have on hand to make most any cleaning product you would need. Most items you will already have in your kitchen or laundry cabinets. This entire list is not needed to make each product, but to be used as top recommended ingredients to mix up different cleaners.

Now, if DIY is not your thing but you still want to ditch the junk and switch to a toxin free cleaning routine, then this next list if for you. Here are our top recommended companies that skip the junk chemicals.

  • DoTerra - any of the On Guard home products are going to be toxin free while also sanitizing to the home. You can find all purpose cleaner, laundry detergent and more in the On Guard line. Dr Erica uses OnGuard in the office actually! You can order from Dr Erica’s personal link here.

  • Norwex - microfiber cleaning cloths that use silver threads to create what they call BacLock, which is an antibacterial agent for self-cleansing purposes. Our favorite Norwex product is their Window Cloth that leaves glass streak free with just water. You can find those here.

  • Young Living - their Thieves home line contains much of the same products as DoTerra’s On Guard line, from all purpose cleaner concentrate to laundry detergent. Toxin free while also sanitizing. You can order online here.
