DIY Relaxing Linen Spray

DIY linen spray with essential oils

Bed stripping day is the perfect time to give our beds and bedding a little extra love and care.

I actually like to sprinkle baking soda over the entire bare mattress when I strip the sheets and everything off. After letting it sit for an hour or so (or until your sheets are washed and dried and ready to go back on) I grab the furniture attachment for our vacuum and suck all the baking soda back up.

Baking soda can help keep your mattress fresh by absorbing odors that may have been trapped in.

After vacuuming the baking soda, you will want to spritz the linen spray all over the mattress. You will also want to give the sheets a quick spritz after you put them on the bed. I also like to give each pillow a spray too.

Ingredients:

  • distilled water

  • small spray or misting bottle

  • rubbing alcohol

  • 20 drops lavender essential oil

  • 10 drops cedarwood essential oil

  • optional: you can use eucalyptus essential oil in place of cedarwood if you don’t prefer the scent. I found that while I did not at first like the lavender and cedarwood blend, I now crave it at night for restful sleep.

Instructions:

  • fill your spray bottle 1/3 full of rubbing alcohol

  • add your essential oils

  • fill remaining bottle with distilled water

  • shake gently before each use

This method can also be used for a general furniture refreshing spray or even a room spray, just switch the essential oils to your liking.
