DIY Shower and Tub Scrub
Cleaning shouldn’t have to include numerous different products that only serve one purpose. It also shouldn’t involve toxic chemicals. That is kind of the opposite of clean… right?
This is why we are starting a series on the blog of DIY cleaners that you can make at home with products you most likely have on hand, in your kitchen cabinets, and for a much better price than the current “clean” products on the market.
Our first, shower and tub scrub is super simple to whip up when you need it, and you can always store some under the kitchen sink to have on hand and ready to go.
Let’s just get to it since that is what you are here for.
Ingredients:
1 cup baking soda
1/4 cup castile soap (can be omitted and use any basic liquid soap, including dish soap)
1-2 TBS hydrogen peroxide
10-15 drops essential oil (not needed, but lemon or tea tree will add anti-microbial power)
Instructions
Add baking soda to jar/small bowl
Add castile soap, and essential oils
Add hydrogen peroxide 1 TBS at a time, adding more if needed to get the best consistency, you are wanting a thick glue-like scrub
Use on the tub/shower and store remaining scrub in an airtight container
I like to put mine in a glass jar and store the remaining under the kitchen sink. It will last me 2-3 weeks. It is great to pull out every couple of days to keep the kitchen sink and faucet from water stain build up.
